Hi, I am Julie, a mother and homemaker, a folk singer and now a writer too sometimes (I am often writing in the middle of the night when all is still in the house)
You’ll also find me singing in caves or out in the countryside with my dog(s). Not so often now as two dogs is harder work than one. Add a baby who is now rather heavy to carry and among the bewilderment (and beauty) of it all there does not seem to be many moments left in which to sing (except to myself)
I used to wander a lot in the woods and sing while doing so and thus have amassed quite a large archive of song material. That has inspired this blog because behind the songs are many stories.
I am very blessed to have four children. Here are the oldest three when they were little, playing in muck all the time and just enjoying it thoroughly! The boys now tower above me and it won’t be long before my daughter is standing tall next to me.
I have always sung to them and in fact they have subconsciously soaked in the words so much so that they know pretty much every song off by heart (though of course they would not dream of singing with me!)
When my daughter was born in 2012 I sang her out to this song, Searching For Lambs, (which I have just released to download/stream at all the usual places)
And then 10 years later I was blessed again with another baby. Another Earth Angel, like the others. Children are so pure and wonderful. Just like dogs. Carriers of healing and Light
I am also founder of Eat Bake Sing (find it everywhere on socials and YouTube etc) - community baking but mainly singing-related stuff. Oh and wild food walks (all while singing)
